Whoops!

I've been hearing the word "accidentally" very frequently of late. And noticing that people use it as a qualifier way too often. They are pretty sure they swear it was an honest mistake. Like, "I accidentally slept with my best friend's brother..."
I've never heard this strange incorrect usage before, unless the person was honestly joking. For example:"Oh sorry! Accidentally killed you!" But a few statements like that have found their way into my life, and they were sincere.

So today I suggest you reevaluate your usage of this word.
Right: "I got in an accident," or "I had an accident."
Wrong: "I accidentally slept with my best friend's brother."



Wrong: "This picture was an accident."
